My Journey with Nutrition
Why I do this work — and how I got here
For a long time, I looked like I was doing everything “right.”
I was managing a high-stress career in law enforcement, staying active, and trying to control my health through discipline. But behind the scenes, my body was struggling. I was dealing with intense job stress and PTSD, unexplained weight gain, chronic insomnia, often sleeping less than three hours a night, and sudden panic attacks that seemed to come out of nowhere.
Like many women, I responded by trying harder.
- I tracked macros.
- I worked out more.
- I ate less.
And the more I restricted and pushed my body, the worse things became. My sleep deteriorated, my stress increased, and the harder I tried to lose weight, the more my body seemed to resist.
What I didn’t realize at the time was that I wasn’t lacking willpower; I was overwhelming my body.
Learning to Work With My Body, Not Against It
Everything began to change when I stopped chasing quick fixes and started asking different questions.
Instead of focusing on calories and control, I began looking at root causes and the core functional systems that influence how we feel, digestion, metabolism, stress response, inflammation, and hormonal rhythms.
I learned how chronic stress and poor sleep were impacting my nervous system, metabolism, and mental health. I learned the importance of honoring natural body rhythms rather than fighting them. And most importantly, I learned how to support my body instead of punishing it.
As I addressed these systems, things slowly but steadily improved.
- I started sleeping a full eight hours again.
- My panic attacks eased.
- My weight stabilized.
- And my relationship with food and movement became calmer and more sustainable.
That experience changed not only my health, but the direction of my life.
Why I Became a Clinical Nutritionist
I didn’t want other women to feel like their bodies were betraying them.
I didn’t want them to believe that eating less, pushing harder, or ignoring stress was the answer, especially when their body was already asking for support.
Becoming a clinical nutritionist allowed me to combine science, systems-based thinking, and compassion into an approach that helps women understand why their bodies are responding the way they are, and what they actually need to feel safe, stable, and well.
How I Work Today
My practice is grounded in the Core Systems Approach, a supportive and trauma-informed, root-cause method that focuses on the foundational systems that drive energy, digestion, mood, and weight regulation.
This work emphasizes:
- Supporting stress and nervous system regulation
- Restoring sleep and circadian rhythm
- Stabilizing metabolism and blood sugar
- Improving gut and immune health
- Building a trusting, sustainable relationship with food
I don’t believe in extremes, rigid plans, or pushing through symptoms.
I believe your body is intelligent, and when it’s supported correctly, it knows how to heal.
My Promise to You
- You don’t need more discipline.
- You don’t need to fight your body.
- And you’re not broken.
If you’re dealing with symptoms that don’t make sense or haven’t responded to conventional advice, my role is to help you find clarity, support your core systems, and create a path forward that feels steady, realistic, and aligned with your life.
